Judith "Judie" Rogers

Judith “Judie” J. Rogers, 84, of West Peoria passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital of Peoria surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Moline, IL to Howard and Catherine (Andreas) Jennings on September 1, 1940. She married her husband of 49 years, Ritchie “Doc” L. Rogers, on June 6, 1959; he preceded her in death on September 18, 2008. Judie was also preceded in death by her parents; three older siblings, Connie (Ron) Welch, Kay Nichols, and Tom (Joanne) Jennings; two children, Joseph and Ritchie Jr.; and one grandchild, Justin Hart. She will be lovingly remembered by six children, Sheryl (Joe) Wright, Julie Rogers, Kevin Rogers, Keith Rogers, Jamie Rogers, and Shannon Rogers; five grandchildren, Jessica (Wade) Messer, Aaron (Gabby) Wright, Kristie (Billy) Taggart, Leah Rogers, and Chance Ulrich; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Jan (Jeff) Miller; along with multitudes of extended family members and friends. Judie attended Alleman High School in Moline, graduating in 1958. After high school, she fell in love and began a life with Doc. The two owned a store, “Doc and Judie’s Dairy Store,” in East Moline, and built a home there. In 1976, they relocated their family to Peoria. Judie was a devout Catholic; she was a longtime parishioner of St. Mark’s Church in Peoria and donated regularly to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. She could always be counted on for a prayer. She spent most of her life managing in the foodservice industry and was an enthusiastic bartender; her last position being at Hillside on Sheridan in Peoria. She enjoyed life up until the very end. Judie was a people person who loved to entertain. She loved to go fishing, bowling, play pool, garden, and most of all spend time with her family. In addition to her own children, she opened her heart and home to countless numbers of their friends throughout the years. Her home was the “place to be” and she liked it that way. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother to all of the kids in her life. A visitation will be held at St. Philomena’s Church in Peoria on Saturday, September 21, at 9:00 AM, and funeral mass at 10AM. There will be a luncheon for family and friends at 11:30am at St Sharbel community hall, at 2914 W Scenic Dr, Peoria. Cremation rites will take place at Schmidt and Haller. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to St. Jude in Judie’s name.
