Virginia E. Woodhouse

Virginia (Ginny) Elizabeth Woodhouse, age 88, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria. She was born on April 11, 1935 in Muskegon, MI to the late Martin and Marjorie (David) Miller. Ginny is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas Woodhouse, with whom she recently celebrated 67 years of marriage (March 17, 1956). She is also survived by her children, Jeff (Ginny) Woodhouse of Everett, WA and Marjorie “Margie” (Roger) Finley of Rosenberg, TX, grandchildren, Alex (Julie) Woodhouse, Eric (Bree) Woodhouse, Sarah (Peter) Burt, and Thomas (Tylan) Finley, and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Milo, Sawyer, Charlie, Edwin, and Harvey. Ginny grew up on a farm in western Michigan. Always responsible and dependable, she helped her father with a variety of farm chores and helped her mother care for her three younger sisters, who also survive her, Beverly (Pete) Roberts, Janet Barlow, and Barbara Wolvin. Additionally surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks to Mike Woodhouse and his wife, Charlotte, for their ongoing love and support. Tom and Ginny moved early in their marriage to Peoria where she lived the rest of her life. They started and raised their family here. She enjoyed her role as a dedicated wife and mother. Ginny had many outside interests and hobbies that included a variety of crafts. She knitted sweaters for her children and grandchildren. Tom and Ginny had a huge social group with whom they enjoyed playing bridge, tennis, and ongoing potluck dinners. Ginny volunteered numerous hours in the community including several years at Proctor Hospital Gift Shop and as a deacon and member of First Federated Church. She enjoyed traveling, both to far away places such as China, Australia and Europe, as well as around the country to visit or meet up with her children and grandchildren. Ginny was always dressed for the occasion and had a lovely sense of classic style. She will be remembered by family and friends as a thoughtful, caring, fun and generous woman. In celebration of the life of Virginia (Ginny) Woodhouse, there will be a Visitation in the Memorial Lounge and a Reception in the Commons at First Federated Church, 3601 N Sheridan Rd, Peoria, IL 61604. The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Please contact Margie (Woodhouse) Finley (281-382-9875) for additional information. Cremation rites have been accorded.
