Betty Gail Davis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Betty Gail Davis, 84 passed away Tuesday, the 17th of May 2022 (on the same day as her daughter 2 years prior). She was comforted by family during her transition home. Betty Gail born May 4th, 1939 in Henderson County TN she was the youngest of 4 born to parents Dewey Donald Thompson and mother Ruby Mackey Washburn. Betty precedes her Sister Alice Jean (brother in law Coy) passed in 2009, brother Harold Wayne Thompson (passed Nov 1936) and survived by brother Gerald Glenn Thompson (Wife Myrtle) who lives in Decatur IL. Betty Davis was a housewife and not only raised 4 children of her own (with the help of her loving husband Don) but also helped raise 3 grandchildren along the way. Betty early on used to love to dance and was an avid reader and could finish a 400 page book in just a couple days. Betty used to read to her granddaughter when she was a toddler so much so that Briana could recite the book word for word before she knew how to read. Also a lover of movies and television she would always try to read the book first before watching the movie or show. Although we don’t know the total number of books she’s read over the course of her life it was well in the thousands she also collected and read cook books. Also a huge bargain shopper there wasn’t a garage sale in the city she wasn’t aware of and this was pre-internet days. Serving by the side of her husband faithfully for 60 years, Betty would wake up daily around 4:30am to prepare Don’s coffee before heading to work. Her support as a lifemate is unsurpassed and the love she gave unmatched. She is survived by her husband of 6 decades and 3 generations Donald Dean Davis 80, Son Donald Davis Jr 58 and Daughter Diane Davis (McKinney) 52. Grandson Kenley Jermain Wade III 46 (wife Totianne Wade) Granddaughters Nicole Tipton 47 and Brandy Tipton 45, Granddaughter Briana Davis 32 and grandson Ronnie McKinney 29. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, granddaughters Savannah (Amanda) Streiler 28, Shaniya Tipton 25, Ava Tipton 15, Olivia Wade 9 and KayLani Wade 2, and grandsons James Tipton 22 and Kenley Jermaine Wade IV 1. Great GREAT grandsons Micah 7, Ezra 5, Domanic 3 and great GREAT granddaughters Amora 6, Azayla 3, Adalaya 2. Betty was preceded in death by son Mark Rains, daughter Sheri Tipton 62, granddaughter Lori Rains 42 and great-granddaughter Liberty Rains 16. Special thanks to cousin Jan Reed, daughter of Betty’s sister Alice Jean Martin, thank you for being by her side even on the day of her passing. Betty always referred to Jan as our angel. Betty also referred to Randy (Jan’s older brother) as her first baby… Betty is also survived by 2 nephews and a niece by her brother Gerald. The family will have a private service for family and close friends. Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services is assisting the family.
