Brett Gipson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Brett Gipson, age 63, of Peoria, died on Friday June 10, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 18, 1958 in Quincy, IL to Robert and Charlotte (Allen) Gipson. He married Carey (Pagel) Timerman on February 11, 2021 and she survives. In addition to his parents and wife, Brett is also survived by 3 children: Also surviving are his children, Tyrelle Walker of Keokuk, IA, Brettania Osborne (Tavonne) of Jacksonville, Florida, Nicole Osborne-McGough (David) of Quincy, IL, and he raised Natasha Humphrey (Tranell) of Quincy IL and Pernell Schroder (Ida) of Richmond, MO as his own; grandchildren, Jaela Osborne-McGough, Nalani Osborne-McGough, Caedence Osborne-McGough, Journee Osborne-McGough, and Xaidyn Oliver-Osborne; siblings, Bobette Patton of University City MO, Colette Gipson of Quincy IL, Robert Gipson of San Diego California; several nieces and nephews; lifelong best friend, Don Dickerson of Ocala, FL; and his beloved Cat: Mildred (Millie). Brett was preceded in death by his brother, Bart Gipson, grandparents, Annie and Harvey Allen, and his imaginary friend, Henry. Brett worked several jobs throughout the years with the most recent being Central Illinois Produce and SC2 in Bartonville. Brett never met a stranger in life and was always willing to help anyone that asked. Brett was always quite the jokester and could tell the biggest tales with the straightest face. Brett loved his cars, and you could always find him buffing or adding new “accessories” to them. Anyone that truly knew Brett knew about Henry. Henry made Brett and everyone else’s life more fun. It could be when Henry and Brett went fishing and caught Rainbow Trout (rainbow goldfish crackers) for a fish fry, or Henry’s new pet fish in the “empty” bag of water, Henry’s wooden foot that itched because it was discovered to have termites, Henry’s neck that got lost in the car accident, or when Henry dressed up for Halloween so everyone could finally see him. Brett kept this sense of humor all throughout his cancer treatments to bring smiles to the nurses and fellow patients. Brett’s wish would be for no tears just laughter and lots of storytelling. There will be a celebration of Life starting at 1pm on June 25, 2022 at the Peoria Heights VFW Post 2602, 1505 E Lake St., Peoria Heights, IL. The family asks that you bring a covered dish and a memory to share.
