David John Mattheessen

January 19, 1957 - June 12, 2019

David John Mattheessen was born on January 19th 1957 in Peoria, Illinois. Surrounded by his friends and family, Dave passed on Wednesday, June 12th 2019, at 12:50 am at Methodist Hospital in Peoria Illinois. He was 62 years old. Preceded in death by his mother Barbra (Goodwin) Michael and father John L. Mattheessen. He wed Laurie (Johnson) Mattheessen October 5th 1991. To this union, one son was born: Hayden Mattheessen. Dave had 3 sons: Bryan D. Mattheessen of Dover, DE; Brandon L. Mattheessen of Marquette Heights, IL and Hayden Mattheessen of Peoria, IL. Two Brothers: Keith Mattheessen (Terri) of Katy, TX and Brent Mattheessen (Christina) of Key West, FL. He was a loving uncle to Mattheessen nieces and nephews: Kristi, Megan, Rees and Ian of Katy, TX - Kayla, Hunter and Jack of Key West, FL. Dave graduated from Richwoods High School in 1975. He owned and operated Olympic Pool & Spa Co. for 32 years. He loved doing this work up to his last days. He had a love for his family and a special bond with his son Hayden. He also loved his many friends as well as his pets. Some of his favorite hobbies included trains, camping and target shooting.
