Lawrence “Larry” Anthony Joseph Carrigan, OFS Obituary

Lawrence “Larry” Anthony Joseph Carrigan, OFS, age 65, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at his home in Peoria, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 7, 1956, in Peoria to Robert Thomas and Ellen Rose (Dougherty) Carrigan. He married Lu Kendall in 1999 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Peoria. Larry will be greatly missed by those closest to him including his wife, Lu, daughters Annie and Pammy Kendall, and best friend and granddaughter Allison McNab. He is survived by his other children Nicole (John) Bute, Michelle Dunn, Dustin Carrigan, and multiple grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry leaves to cherish his memory his siblings Elizabeth (Glen Bigger) Carrigan-Bigger, Michael Carrigan, Patricia (Dennis) Nephew, and Mary Carrigan. His family has no doubt that he was welcomed with open arms on the other side of the rainbow by his parents, brothers Robert Carrigan Jr., James Carrigan Sr., and many other loved ones. Larry touched countless lives in his short time on Earth. He was a devout Catholic, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Peoria, and a Secular Franciscan, following St. Francis of Assisi. He was a music lover and found joy in collecting records and sharing his music knowledge with everyone. Larry could be found, on any given day, laughing with his family, asking what was for dinner, taking photographs, and talking about all the jobs he proudly completed as a laborer for Local 165. He loved spending time with his best buddy, Al, teaching her all about the ways of the world and the Chicago Cubs. Al will miss her papa more than words can express. A visitation for Larry will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Peoria on Saturday June 18, 2022, at 10 am, with a Franciscan prayer service right before 11 am mass. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to Sophia’s Kitchen.
