Minnie Jewell Steele

July 19, 1942 - March 12, 2022

Minnie Jewell Steele, 79, of Peoria, Illinois, went to be with the Lord at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Saturday, March 12, 2022. She was born on July 19, 1942, in Monterey, TN, to Joe Benton Henry and Byrdie Jewell Whittaker Henry. She married William J. Steele on February 20, 1960. He survives. Also surviving are their daughter, Terrie M. Steubinger of Washington, Illinois; two sons, Pastor David A. (Jane) Steele of St. Cloud, Florida and Kelly J. (Carrie) Steele of Peoria, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Nicole Steubinger, Jamie (Brett) Cook, Katie Steubinger, Michael Steubinger, Sarah (Brian) Taylor, Stacy (Cliff) Butner, Stephanie (Jason) Clark, Stephen (Lexi) Steele, Samuel (Sheila) Steele, Savannah Steele, Sarina Steele, Cassidy Steele, and Kelsie Steele; 8 great grandchildren: Ezra Cook, Braxton Wilkinson, Yared, Mackenzie and Kendall Butner, Leilana and Kai Clark, and Sadie Steele; her sister, Cynthia Jean (Floyd) Bumbalough of Creve Coeur; and her brother, Charles Edward (Evie) Henry of Clarksville, TN. Minnie was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed doing things with her family. Minnie accepted Christ as her personal Savior on September 26, 1966. She was a member of El Vista Baptist Church where she actively served for many years in the church choir and as a deacon’s wife. Minnie also volunteered for many years with Child Evangelism Fellowship in Peoria. Minnie’s funeral service will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 19, 2022 at El Vista Baptist Church 6301 N. Syler St. Peoria, IL 61615. Pastors Joey Watt and David A. Steele will officiate. Her visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm also on Saturday at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church. Services have been entrusted to Schmidt-Haller Burial & Cremation Services in Peoria.
