James William "Jim" Buecker

Peoria Heights - James W. Buecker, 70, of Peoria Heights, IL, passed away June 7, 2023 while visiting family in Geneva, IL. Jim was born August 23, 1952 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL to M. Dale and Betty J. (Day) Buecker. He had one sister Sharon K. (Morrison). They all proceeded him in death. Jim married Christine (Kris) L. Weeks on May 5, 1973. She survives. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last month and renewed their vows. Jim is also survived by his two children and eight grandchildren: Tony (Brooke) Buecker (Belle, Lucy, Henry, and Will) of Brimfield, IL and daughter, Heather (Mike) Pittan (James, Cole, Blake, and Noah) of Geneva, IL. Jim graduated from Bergan High School and Illinois Central College Electronics Program. He worked at Caterpillar until he retired as an engineer in 2015. He was proud of his work and his many friends at Caterpillar. In his retirement he and Kris enjoyed traveling with family and friends across the U.S. enjoying the country that he loved. Jim was also a devoted husband, father, and Papa. He loved spending time with his grandkids and watching them do what they love. He was their biggest fan. He will be greatly missed by his family, and they look forward to seeing him again one day in heaven. Jim was a man of strong faith. You could often find him studying his Bible. He loved reading, discussing, and sharing God's Word with everyone. He believed that Jesus died to pay for his (and all of our) sins and he had no doubt that he would see Jesus after leaving this earth. "The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:56-57 Jim's family has arranged his memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria. Reverend Mark Nelson will officiate. Internment will take place at a later date. Cremation has been entrsusted to Schmidt-Haller Burial & Cremation Services in Peoria.
