Michel Shropshire

Michel "Mikey" B. Shropshire was born on April 23, 1988, in Peoria, Illinois to David D. and Julie A. (Burnett) Shropshire. He unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023. Michel was only 35 years of age. He graduated from East Peoria Community High School in May 2007. He joined the Navy Reserves in March of 2011. He was initiated into the IBEW in June 2012. He graduated in May 2017 and was working for Zeller Electric in Goodfield. Michel enjoyed going for long rides on his Harley Davidson with his friends and family. He loved animals, especially cats. He left behind his cat "Kitty" who will miss him immensely. When Michel was around there was never a dull moment. He was a jokester and loved entertaining and making people laugh. He was good at it. He lit up any room he entered and will be greatly missed by so many. Michel is survived by his mother, Julie (Brian) Wills, of East Peoria, and his siblings, Jessica, David, Brittany, Kirsten, Haley, Christopher, Kayla, Amanda, Payton, and Morgan, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family. James (Lisa) Cassidy who played a significant role in raising Michel continued to be a positive presence in Michel's life. In addition to his father David, Michel was predeceased by his step father Karl, grandparents, Earl, Mary Ann, David, and Peggy (Jim), his great-grandparents, his uncles, John, and Earl, and his Aunt Rose Marie Burnett, and his nephew, Zachary Pusey. A visitation will be from 9am to 11am followed by a church service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Northwoods Community Church, 10700 N. Allen Rd, Peoria, IL 61615. Interment will be held in the spring at St. Josephs Cemetery, Pekin, in addition to a life celebration to be determined at a later date. Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
