Roberta Kay Weber

Roberta Kay Weber, 74, of Dunlap, IL, passed away at 5:02 am, Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Richard L Owens Hospice Home. Roberta was born on May 22, 1950, in Peoria, IL, to parents, Bernard Mangan and Doris Emerson. They preceded her in death. She married Joseph Weber at First English Lutheran Church in Peoria on October 20, 1973. Left to cherish Roberta’s memory is her loving family; husband, Joseph C. Weber of Dunlap, IL; children, Jessica (Joe) Bremer of Dunlap, IL and Justin Weber of Dunlap, IL; grandchildren, Jenna Bremer, Jackson Bremer, Cora Weber, Cara Weber; brothers, Dale (Angela) Mangan of Fontana, WI and David (Marla) Mangan of Milwaukee, WI; nephews Brad (Ellen) Managan, Tim (Kim) Managan, Max (Morayma) Zerla, Devon Mangan, and niece Meri (Jason) Bell. Roberta spent her summers as a lifeguard at Brock Lake in Mackinaw, IL while in college at Western Illinois University studying Park Administration and Recreation. She thrived at being the golf course superintendent for Detwiller and Northmore(Donovan) Golf Courses. She took a break from work to raise her children but felt the calling to become a teacher. Roberta attended Illinois State University and received her Masters of Science in May 1993. She later received her Doctorate in Education in May 1996. She was chosen to be on the cover of the 1996-1997 graduate catalog for Illinois State University. In July of 1998 she received an honor for being President of Mu Chapter Kappa Delta Pi at ISU. Roberta then became a professor at Florida Atlantic University. Where she followed her passion of teaching Master and Doctoral level classes. She enjoyed sharing her love of technology with teachers. Roberta loved taking students each summer abroad to learn overseas. Her job took her to exciting destinations all over the world meeting some amazing people before she eventually retired in 2019. She became the Founder and Executive Director of The Association of Ubiquitous and Collaborative Educators International (AUCEI). Roberta enjoyed camping, taking walks on the beach, and traveling. Most importantly, she loved being Nana. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and seeing them grow up to the wonderful people they are today! Celebration of life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to American Parkinson Disease Association, P.O. Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306. Cremation has been accorded. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services.
